Hilary Brown named as President
South Kona, Hawaii – MacFarms of Hawaii, LLC,
comprised of Sparco Management, LLLP, and Greater Pacific Food Holdings,
announced today that Hilary Brown has been named
President of MacFarms of Hawaii LLC. Mr. Brown has been employed in the
macadamia industry for 33 years. The past 22 years with MacFarms, most
recently as General Manager.
“These are exciting times for MacFarms” said Mr.
Brown. “Thanks to a consistent rainfall pattern since December of 2003, the
current orchard production and kernel quality is the best in years. The
timing of this large crop is important since MacFarms had recently completed
a project to significantly increase its capacity to pack MacFarms brand
retail and several co-pack products at its factory located at Kapua, South
Kona. This investment in packing capacity was needed to meet the growing
demand of MacFarms retail products in Hawaii and abroad.”

the senior management team and expanding our presence in Hawaii with the
recent addition of additional packing and processing capabilities to the
Kapua factory” said MacFarms Chairman Robert Sparks.
MacFarms of Hawaii, an international leader in the
macadamia nut industry, maintains one of the world's largest single
macadamia nut orchards with nearly 4,000 acres on the South Kona coast of
the Big Island of Hawaii. It was founded in 1977 and currently employs 190
people in South Kona. MacFarms maintains offices in Honolulu, South Kona and
California.

ACQUIRE MACFARMS OF HAWAII
South Kona, Hawaii
- Sparco Management, LLLP, an agribusiness/investment entity owned by
Willard and Robert Sparks, and Greater Pacific Food Holdings (GPFH), with
offices in Monterey and Sacramento, California, announced today that it has
completed the purchase of MacFarms of Hawaii, Inc. from Blue Diamond Growers
of California. The terms of the transaction that formed MacFarms of Hawaii,
LLC, were not disclosed.
Sparks has been successful
in many facets of food and agribusiness, including brokerage, agricultural
research and consulting, row crop farming, cattle feeding, food
manufacturing, investment and real estate. Greater Pacific Food Holdings’
successes are in sales, marketing and distribution of branded products to
the specialty food and natural food industries. This combined ownership will
avail MacFarms of Hawaii with additional skill sets and entrepreneurial
experiences and also providing the company with a hands-on leadership group
at the Board level.MacFarms of Hawaii management and operations will
continue in place and all existing employees have been hired by the new
entity.
